Sugaring & Brazilian

Q: What about Pre and Post Sugaring Care?

A: Body sugaring hair removal is safe for all skin types, even the most sensitive! Since the sugar paste never adheres to live skin cells, only the dead cells will be removed acting as a gentle exfoliation, which is why we ask that you not exfoliate your skin the day before your service. You should also avoid using any creams or lotions on the day of your appointment. For best results, please shower the day of or before your appointment if possible.

Between sugaring appointments it’s important to keep the sugared areas exfoliated and moisturised with an all-natural moisturising cream (we sell "Flawless Crème" and recommend to use it daily for best results), although exfoliation should not be done until 24 hours after sugaring. Ask your technician what exfoliation and moisturizing system would be best for you.

Things to avoid for 24 hours after your appointment:

Perfumes
Scented creams/lotions
Deodorant if you had your underarms sugared
Heat, such as saunas and steam rooms
Direct sunlight or tanning beds
Perspiration. Let this be your excuse to skip going to the gym!

Q: What is the difference between simple bikini, thong bikini, and brazilian?

A: For a simple bikini, we’ll clean up just the sides and top of your bikini line; what would normally show while wearing a bathing suit. For a thong bikini the sides and top, as with the bikini, but the thing that makes it different is that we’ll go in more and also do in between the cheeks in the behind if desired; in essence we’ll remove any hair that might peak out if you’re wearing a thong or "skimpy" bikini. A Brazilian is the removal of all pubic hair including the labial hair, as well as between the cheeks if desired. Although if you like, we can leave a strip or patch of hair at the top. We also offer to remove the "treasure trail" line for free with every bikini or Brazilian service.

Q. How old do I have to be to get a Brazilian?

A. All guests booking for a thong bikini or brazilian must be be atleast 18 years of age, or atleast 16 with parental consent. All guests booking for a simple bikini must be atleast 14 years of age with parental consent. Please be prepared to present a vaild photo i.d., if needed.

Q: What is a Vajazzle?

A: Vajazzles and Vajazzling is a beautiful design of authentic swarvoski crystals made very popular and very public largely by actress Jenifer Love Hewitt. We can adorn your most intimate of spots with small Swarovski Crystals with an adhesive back. We can sparkle you up with a beautiful design from our selection of pre-arranged Vajazzles. The adhesive is safe for all skin types and all body parts and can last up to one week if you’re careful. Come in to take a look at the different styles and colours.

Q: I am prone to ingrowns, what can I do to help this?

A: There are a few basic things you can do to reduce and get rid of ingrown hairs. First and foremost, exfoliate and moisturise! Using a natural bristle body brush, exfoliating cloth or brush, or our Exfoliating scrub (recommended); you’ll keep dead skin cells from trapping new hair growth under your skin. The second step is to keep your skin healthy and moisturized. A good rule of thumb is, whenever your skin gets wet (after every shower or bath) moisturize. We sell our Flawless Skin Crème which is a vegan, all-natural moisturising lotion that also prevents in-growns, heals skin and fades scars.

If you find your ingrown are painful and pustoulous, add an antibacterial ingredient (such as dead sea salt and/or Hungarian mud) to disinfect and help draw out the bacteria. Ask about these products at your appointment.

Q: How long should my hair be?

A: For best results your hair should be atleast 1/8 of an inch long (1/4 inch for legs).

Q: Will it hurt as much as waxing?

A: Most people find that body sugaring hurts far less than waxing, but it all depends on your own pain tolerance. The first time is the worst, and after that pain is usually reduced to half or less for maintenance appointments.

Q: How long should I wait between appointments?

A: For most services we recommend coming in every four to five weeks for best results. Timing may vary depending on your growth cycle and how long you’ve been sugaring. Ask your technician for their recommendation on your next visit.

Q: What is VIP maintenance?

A: VIP maintenance is a $10 discount given to reward clients who book their next Brazilian or Thong Bikini appointment within 4 to 5 weeks from their last appointment. To receive VIP pricing your appointment must be exactly 5 weeks or less from your last one with us.

Gel Nails

What is UV Gell:

UV gels have a similar consistency to nail polish.

They are brushed onto your nails or nail forms to extend length. After your nail technician applies each coat, you must put your nails under ultraviolet (UV) light for up to two minutes to "cure" or harden the product. There is no odor during the application process.

Gel nail application provides the strength of acrylic nails with the appearance of natural nails.

Top 7 Reasons to choose en Vogue gel nails:

  1. Flexible & strong - en Vogue nails imitate the structure of the natural nail. More than any other artificial nail system they combine a light, natural feel and look with exceptional resiliency.
  2. Odor free - en Vogue gels do not release odor or harmful vapors and are suitable for a spa environment.
  3. Non-toxic - Neither client nor nail technician have to fear any toxic impact from the products.
  4. Non-porous - the gels in our Sculptured Nail Systems are non porous and seal against fungus and mold.
  5. Non-yellowing - en Vogue nails guarantee the total natural look without yellowing.
  6. No primer - No potentially aggressive chemicals are used that could harm the natural nail.
  7. Curing Most current artificial nail products continue to react to daylight particularly sunlight, eventually becoming yellow and brittle. en Vogue nails only cure when exposed to UVA light during the set curing time and show no reaction like yellowing thereafter. The light does not produce any harmful radiation or emissions that could the skin or natural nails.

Maintenance:

Gels grow out with your nails and need to be filled in every two to three weeks. Your technician will gently file down the gel edge closest to your nail bed, and then fill in the empty area between your nail bed and the existing gel nail. Shape to the desired length and style and you’re ready for another two to three weeks.

Removal:

En Vogue gels are removed by filing the gel off and finishing with a natural manicure.

Acrylic to uv gel:

The technician can remove acrylic nails and apply gel, however gel is not as strong as acrylic so the tech often advises clients to shorten the nails a little bit or to wear their first new set a little thicker so the client does not chip or break corners off.

If your nail technician isn't experienced, she can file your nail plate too thin when applying gels or acrylics, which can damage your natural nails. If this happens the tech will take the acrylic down to a thin layer on the nail and apply gel over the surface so the client does not get infection or nail plate burn.

Damaged nails:

Gel nails could get an infection in your nail bed if minor trauma causes your gel nail to lift your entire nail off. Such as getting your finger caught in a door or accidentally banging your nails against a countertop or other hard surface. *Most often you will get a pressure lift under the nail that the tech can file down to fix on your next visit.

Allergies:

If something seems off tell your technician if you're in any pain after your artificial nails have been applied, because they aren't supposed to hurt. If you develop rashes or itchiness around the fingertips or your eyes, face, or neck; It could be sensitivity to one of the ingredients in your artificial nails.

Top 10 chronic lifting problems:

As you know, most lifting problems are the result of improper technique, particularly at the preparation stage. Product contamination and mixing product lines can also be the cause. But if you’ve searched your soul and ruled out technician error, it’s time to ask your clients a few questions:

  1. Are you taking insulin or heart medication? Both substances can cause nails to become weak and bridle.
  2. Are you taking mega-doses of vitamin b? Ingestion of heavy doses of b vitamins, especially b6 and b12, can disrupt the keratin balance of the nail plate.

  4. Are you on antibiotics? Four to eight weeks alter beginning a prescription, lifting can occur at the center of the nail plate.
  5. Are you using recreational drugs? Cocaine and marijuana used on a semi-regular basis can cause lifting.
  6. Are you pregnant? Changes in body chemistry can affect product adhesion.
  7. Have you recently stopped taking birth control pills? Stopping birth control pills can cause delamination, chipping, and thinning of nails for three to five months.
  8. Are you dehydrated? Dieting and changes in the diet can accelerate the loss of bodily fluids, leading to dehydration of the nail bed.
  9. Do you smoke? Smokers commonly experience lifting on the middle and index fingers, due to the oil from the tobacco.
